Things To Do

Biking in Charleston

See Charleston via bike ride!

Grab a city bike stacked on many corners through out the city! Our favorite route is heading south on King street towards the battery and looping around White Point Gardens where we got engaged. If you want to walk instead of bike head west down Broad Street to Colonial Lake and do a few laps! It’s a favorite walking spot for us!

Book a Walking Tour of Charleston

See Charleston via a historic walking tour!

We love them all and each offers an insiders look to the city! Book in advance… they fill up!

Here are a few of our favorite companies to book with: 2 Sisters Tours, Walk and Talk Charleston, Tommy Dew Walking Tours &
Ghost tours departing from Buxton Books

Visit the Gibbes Museum of Art

Explore the Gibbes Museum!

Short on time and wanting to see some beautiful art? Explore the Charleston Collection on the second floor! PS: Mention Outten at the entrance for free admission!

Book a Historic House Tour!

We have a great list of our top favorites!

Here are some of our favorite house tours in the city: The Aiken Rhett House (preserved as found and absolutely fascinating!), The Russell House (beautifully decorated and worth seeing!) and the Heyward Washington House (PS: See the garden, it is lovely while also being very quick and easy)!

Visit Patriots Point & The Yorktown

Take a trip to Patriots Point & The Yorktown.

This is an interesting adventure full of military history and, (fun fact!), where Alex graduated from nuclear brainiac school!!

Visit a Church

Charleston is known as the Holy City and we recommend visiting one of the many churches that dot our downtown streets. The bells ring on the half hour throughout town daily, so pop in as you explore the city!

Churches seem to inhabit every block of Charleston! Most are open during the day to visitors, and even if you just want to walk by the graveyards are also very fascinating! Our best advice - listen for the bells!

Shopping on King Street

Here are a few of our favorite spots!

Visit Sullivan's Island!

Feeling adventurous? Head over to Sullivan's Island and explore!

Food options abound on this lovely little island. You can't go wrong with lunch at The obstinate Daughter or a burger at Poe's Tavern. Wanting to start the party early? Pop into Mex 1 and order a Margarita! A walk around the National park service’s at Fort Moultrie is always a great afternoon activity.

Explore the City Via Carriage!

A fun way to explore Charleston!

Book a horse drawn carriage ride and take in the beautiful views of the town!

Visit a Rooftop Bar!

Grab a drink and get a birds eye view of the city!

Our favorite spot is the Citrus Club at the Dewberry!

The Charleston Restaurant Scene

Restaurants abound in Charleston and there are so many great places to pick from! We have linked a great list of places to visit but here are a few of our favorites!

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation during your stay.

All of our venues are only a quick walk down Broad Street except the reception which less than 2 miles from the Church!

There will be transportation running from the church to the reception and back to the parking lots close to the church, the hotels and the Blind Tiger!

Our airport can be busy so make sure you leave plenty of time for security and boarding. It’s about 20 minutes from downtown
We love a Pedi cab if it’s not too cold to get around the city (sometimes they even have blankets)! Ubers are widely available and an easy way to get around.

PARKING

Parking for wedding & reception

The wedding is at 2:00 PM and there is mass at our cathedral at 5:00 PM so all cars must be moved from the lot before then. We suggest parking in one of the city garages on the corner of Queen Street or King Street. There are two city garage parking options (one between
King Street and Meeting Street and one between King Street and Legare Street on the south side of the street).

Shuttles will run to the reception at Ashley Hall and back to both lots. The shuttle service will also run to the hotels and the after party at the Blind Tiger!
